What does Mise à l’échelle de différence maximale (MaxDiff) mean?

Mise à l’échelle de différence maximale (MaxDiff), is a methodological extension of the simple pair comparison developed by the psychologist and physicist Gustav Theodor Fechner and a very efficient procedure for measuring preference differences between similar properties or things. Study participants (test persons) are shown a certain number of attributes from a population and have to select the preferred (most important) and the least preferred (least important) attribute.
